Principle of uniform process: The same process that are acting on the Earth today and also acted on the Earth in the past.
Relative Age: Age of something compared to something else. ( Comparing one rock to another.)
Law of cross cutting: Younger features cut across older features.
Law of SuperPostion: In any sequence of rock layers that have not been disturbed, the youngest layer is on the top & the oldest layer is on the bottom.
Continental Drift Alfred Wegener a german Meteorologist, first proposed the concept of a super continent which he called Pangaea. Pangaea was divided into North, and South by the Tythys sea. The North Portion was called Laurasia, Ant the South was called Gondwanaland.
125-225 Million years ago Pangaea broke apart. The various parts broke into the Major Contients weknow today. As the continents moved they rotated slightly to present day.
Wageners continental Drift theory was base on: 1. Expaned coastlines of South America and africa.
2. Fossil Depots
3. Rocks & Soil types as well as Glaciers.
The only thing Wegener could not explain was the Mechanism or force which moved the continents apart.
